It's NOT Colic . . .

. . . but it is reflux and a growth spurt!

Yes, our darling is going through a little bit of growing pains. The last couple of nights he has been up till at least 2:30am alternating between crying and wanting to eat. We went to the Pediatrician yesterday, and she said that this was normal when a baby has an issue with acid reflux. The good news is that he is over 8.5 lbs, so there is no concern over him actually getting enough to eat. Also, it's very typical that babies go through a growth spurt right around 4 weeks, so his desire to eat, especially at night, is very good thing. This reflux just has poor timing.

So, what to do? Well, did you know they make baby Zantac? They do! Apparently it tastes pretty awful, so the doctor said we might have a harder time dealing with that than dealing with the spit up. The best thing we can do for him is to keep him in a reclined but not flat position, especially right after eating. We haven't filled the prescription, yet. Instead, we made an appointment for Ivan with a Pediatric Chiropractor in West Chester for next Tuesday. We will see how that goes first.

In other news, it's been a pretty busy week. The late nights have hindered the blogging a bit, so I'm taking a few minutes to catch up while my boys are sleeping. Here they are a few minutes before I started on this post. With Ivan having reflux, he is more comfortable sleeping in a sitting position. Last night he slept in his swing.

Ivan has had a lot of visitors, which he and I have thoroughly enjoyed, but I think the highlight of this week has been Ivan's trip to the garage to help his dad build an attic space. After a very long Saturday and Sunday night for me, Tom took care of Ivan all day so that I could catch-up on my sleep. I have such a wonderful husband!!

Daddy's little helper!

Mommy and Ivan finally sleeping on Sunday afternoon.
