April Pictures

April was quite a busy month for us! We didn't get to post much, but several times we said "oh we need to put that up on the blog" . . . and, well, it never really happened ~ till now! This is a general recap of the month and lots of fun pictures. In April we managed to take Ivan on his first official visit to daddy's firehouse, started solids, went on first fishing trip, planted a garden, enjoyed the sunny weather and went to the Garden Show.

Videos ~ Solid Foods!

Ivan has started the journey of eating solid foods! We started with rice cereal mixed with breastmilk on 4/14/08. Below is video of that first feeding. It was quite entertaining, which we couldn't completely capture for you because this blog only allows us to upload really short videos.

Below is video from today, 4/26/08, and you will see he is becoming a speedy expert! It seems like we can't feed him fast enough, and he is always ready for more as soon as the spoon is out of his mouth.

We are really glad that our highchair reclines. Ivan is not sitting up on his own yet, so when the seat was perfectly upright, he kept doing a nose-dive into the food. Other things we have learned in the short two weeks since starting solids.

1. It works much better if his hands are at his side BELOW the tray.

2. The best way to keep food off his clothes is to have the bib ABOVE the tray.

4/3/08 ~ Here is Ivan drinking out of daddy's cup. Don't worry, it's just water!

4/10/08 ~ Ivan and Anne went to Columbus for the day to visit cousin Sophie. Here he is playing with his rattle and then Sophie joins in the fun.
